I’m Franco Pariani, and I’m excited to share with you about Michael Julve, a fellow co-founder and advisor at GoGrow. At GoGrow, we share Michael’s views on diversity and inclusion in the tech industry, and we champion underdogs while actively working to support underrepresented founders.
Michael’s journey began in a small town in New Jersey. He served in the Marine Corps, an experience which helped him later become a successful serial entrepreneur and a champion of underrepresented founders in the venture ecosystem. Initially, he didn’t think entrepreneurship was an option for him. However, despite his misgivings, Michael’s time in the military taught him how to manifest internal peace, which turned out to be a critical skill for his journey as an entrepreneur.
Michael went to school after his time in the military, but it wasn’t a direct route. He worked at a used car lot and for Johnson and Johnson, saving up money and applying to schools. His determined approach to building his future laid the foundation for his growth as an entrepreneur. Michael draws unique parallels between his experiences in the military and entrepreneurship, particularly in terms of developing the mindset to deal with chaos and uncertainty.
In the Entrepreneur’s Podcast below, Michael provides some tips for founders, including creating startups in your space where you have a community and know people already, being good to yourself, being careful about the narratives you feed into, and learning how to manifest internal peace. Michael’s journey embodies that story and is a testament to the fact that you don’t need to have everything figured out at 18, and that it’s never too late to start something new.
